What’s your favorite project you worked on and why?  My favorite project so far would fall somewhere in-between my free-motion embroidered pillows and the sketchbook I submitted to “The Sketch Book Project” this past January.

I love working in new ways with different materials, so illustrating while sewing on fabric spurred so many ideas for future projects.  It allowed me to be really creative with embroidery which was different than anything I had done at the time.

The sketchbook project was fun because I was able to create something that wasn’t limited to one medium.  I had complete freedom on how I wanted to fill the book, so I created small collages using paint, glitter, thread, paper, fabric, plastic and other random things. Pretty much anything I found different and interesting to work with, I threw it in there somehow. (You can check it out here: http://www.arthousecoop.com/library/4628)

What are you doing when you’re not working?  I am a constant thrifter/ flea market go-er.  I love searching for anything that can inspire my work,  my closet, or anything that is different and can possibly be turn into something great.  Oh, and eating of course. I am the least picky eater. I love all kinds of food, luckily there is a lot of that around here.

What keeps you motivated on a daily basis?  Living in New York, and constantly meeting other artists who are doing things that are amazing definitely inspires and motivates me.  I love it when an opportunity comes up to collaborate with another artist.  Its forces me to step away for a moment and focus on something new and different, which I think is important for personal growth, and will hopefully be inspiring to others.

What do you think is a main factor that got you where you are today?  Networking is a big part.  Keeping true to what you like doing/creating.

Even though I have a full time job making prints for another brand, I still make time on the side  for my own work and  continue to develop my style.

What do you have coming up for the future?  I am currently in the process of developing my own line of products/prints. It will be launching in the near future, and I am really excited to see it take flight.

What would you tell a friend visiting your city for the first time?  Manhattan is overrated, come to Brooklyn.

Any words of wisdom?  There is something I always say that seems to make people smile….

There are good ships, and there are wood ships,

Favorite project you’ve worked on & why? I like every project. Once I start, I get the same feeling as when I’m starting an amazing book. You become obsessed with it and can neither put it down nor stop thinking of it. Once done, you become sad that its finished. I had a lot of fun preparing for an upcoming project where I had to walk around Williamsburg and Greenpoint, Brooklyn with a dozen balloons on an incredibly freezing, windy day.

What are you doing when you’re not working? I’m a work-oholic and am almost always working with private clients doing either interior design or fine arts. If, on the slight chance, I’m not working, its because I’m either travelling or a friend made me go out. I’m no introvert by any means but I do like to work.

What keeps you motivated on a daily basis? Finding the humor in life, gold teeth and unicorns.

What do you think is a main factor that got you where you are today? The infinite support of my family as well as not taking life very serious.

- Whats your favorite project you’ve worked on and why?

Carrie:  GLITTEROUS with Zach Hyman.  It was an amazing adventure and lesson in presence and focus.  and breaking the law.

Jason:  Following Twiztid on their nationwide tour to document Juggalo culture.  Music, specifically Psychopathic Records, has played an enormous roll in my life.  It was a chance to shoot things my way and to do the culture justice through the lens of a camera.

- What are you doing when you’re not working?

Carrie:  sleeping,  spontaneous Zipcar shenanigans, fire escapes

Jason:  Running, listening to music, watching movies (specifically zombie movies), but not all at once.  Margarita’s are also a hobby of mine.  I have been surveying this delicious elixir throughout the five boroughs for the last 4 years.  I’d have to say Barrio Chino’s has it on lockdown.

- What keeps you motivated on a daily basis?

Carrie:  My brother and partner Jason.  Everything we do is either created from each other or for our creative passion.

Jason:  The flexibility of being a business owner.  I am motivated to never have to worry about “Vacation Days/Sick Days” ever again.

- What do you think is a main factor that got you where you are today?

Carrie:  Realizing that “no” is never an acceptable answer.  That, and the undying and unbiased support of my parents.

Jason:  My parents have always been supportive of my decisions and instilled a “go out and get it” attitude in me since day 1.  Never giving up and following my gut are the cliches I live by.

- What do you have coming up for the future?

Carrie:  The next few months are packed with concerts and a new project involving fat.

Jason:  THE JUGGALO will be shown at mishkanyc.com‘s flagship store in Williamsburg.  Join us on November 5th for Faygo-mixed cocktails and a glimpse into the “Most Hated Fan-Base of All-Time.”

- What would you tell a friend visiting your city for the first time?

Carrie:  Don’t wear your tennis shoes.  Everyone will know you don’t live here.

Jason:  Visit Brooklyn.

- Any words of wisdom?

Carrie:  There are 2 kinds of people in this world:  those who divide the world into 2 kinds of people, and those who don’t.

Jason:  Someone a lot smarter that me once said:  ”Whether you think you can or you can’t, you are always right.”  I dig that quote.

What’s your favorite project you worked on and why? It would be between the book clutches or stationery that I design. I feel the most creative when designing these two products. The team has been designing a series of clutches to look like classic books. We pick titles, pre-1920’s, and draw or paint something from the book that inspires us. With stationery, I love using clever messaging and pretty imagery. I think it’s so nice to get a hand written note in the mail, especially if it’s on nice stationery.

What are you doing when you’re not working? Eating, sleeping, and telling really funny (really bad) jokes.

What keeps you motivated on a daily basis? The people around me are always inspiring me in different ways. Also the feeling I get when I see something that I’ve designed in real life. It makes me so happy to hold the real thing. Buying the product in the store and being able to give it to people is so much fun too. That feeling makes me want to do it over and over again. It will never get old.

What do you think is a main factor that got you where you are today? I worked hard, and made the right connections. MICA played a big part in this role, introducing me to lots of people in the industry. I was introduced to an alumni that worked at kate spade and I interned for her the summer before senior year. When senior year was almost over – she called me with a job opening. It was perfect.

What do you have coming up for the future? Starting my own stationary line in the Fall!

What would you tell a friend visiting your city for the first time? Go to Shake Shack.

Any words of wisdom? DO AS MANY INTERNSHIPS AS POSSIBLE while you’re in school. You will learn what you like and don’t. You will make the best connections and learn from the people you work with. It really is about who you know…

What’s your favorite project you worked on and why? The project I definitely enjoyed myself the most on was last summer for Levi’s. It was the 2009 NBA Draft Diary of Jonny Flynn. I followed him for about a month prior to the draft while trying out for different teams and going through the ups and downs of preparing for the draft. Jonny is truly a great person and really let us into his life while he was going through all of that. It was really cool to see him make it to the NBA.

What are you doing when you’re not working? Not working? HA! I wish…. When I have free time I love going out to eat. My favorite thing by far about NYC is the food. I also love riding my bike, snowboarding and live music.

What keeps you motivated on a daily basis? I think living in NYC has really kept my motivation at an all time high. It’s probably the best thing that has ever happened to me. There are so many really creative people here that you sort of absorb it just walking around. There is really nowhere else where such a vast creative collective exists.

What do you think is a main factor that got you where you are today? I’ve always been pretty ambitious and independent, but I also have always hated having nothing to do. I think that combination of traits sort of gave me the drive that I currently have.

What do you have coming up for the future? I’m leaving for Belfast Ireland to shoot a campaign for Bushmill’s Whiskey. It should be a really incredible project. I’ve never been to Europe so i’m really stoked to be over there. After that I am jumping right back in the mix with Nike and Complex for the rest of the summer and am setting something up with Red Bull as well.

What would you tell a friend visiting your city for the first time? Go do as much as you can. NYC has way too much going on to sit around and do nothing.

What’s your favorite project you worked on and why? When I had my song Wax On Wax Off featured on the Madden NFL 09 game that was pretty cool. I grew up playing that game and I never in a million years thought that my music would be a part of it. It was really cool. See mom, all those years of playing video games paid off, haha.

What are you doing when you’re not working? It seems like I’m always working. If I’m not working on music for my project, producing another artist or Djing, I’m working on my label and publishing company Ghetto Beat. But I love what I do so it’s great.

What keeps you motivated on a daily basis? I’m always excited about creating something new and contributing to the art collective. In other words, “putting some paint where it ain’t.”

What do you think is a main factor that got you where you are today? My ability to not take no for an answer. The magic combination of God given talent, faith and a good work ethic.

I’m working on my new mixtape/ album “It only takes a few to start a revolution”, new music coming out I produced for Mario, Yung Joc, Nyne West, Red Cafe, Empire Isis and others.
